Puncture Repair

Find out whether your punctured tyre can be repaired.

Not every puncture can be repaired. Small punctures in the central tread area often can; damage to the sidewall or shoulder, large holes and tyres that have been driven flat usually cannot.

A proper repair involves taking the tyre off the rim so the inside can be inspected — a tyre that looks fine outside can be damaged inside.

What it involves

  • Tyre removed and the puncture located
  • Inside of the tyre inspected for further damage
  • Repair carried out if the damage is repairable — otherwise replacement options explained
  • Tyre refitted, inflated and checked

Signs you might need it

  • A nail, screw or other object in the tread
  • A tyre that loses pressure overnight
  • A tyre pressure warning light

Common questions

Generally no. The sidewall flexes constantly and a repair there is not considered safe, so the tyre normally needs to be replaced.
