Wheel Balancing
Balance your wheels so they run smoothly at speed.
A wheel and tyre are never perfectly even all the way round. Balancing spins the assembly on a machine, finds the heavy spots and offsets them with small weights so the wheel turns smoothly.
Balancing is normally done whenever tyres are fitted, and is worth repeating if you feel vibration or notice patchy wear.
What it involves
- Wheel and tyre assembly mounted on the balancing machine
- Heavy spots identified while the wheel spins
- Weights added to even out the assembly
- Wheels refitted to the vehicle
Signs you might need it
- Vibration through the steering wheel at highway speeds
- Vibration felt in the seat or floor
- Patchy or scalloped wear on the tread
Common questions
That is a classic sign of an out-of-balance front wheel. Balancing usually fixes it, but a bent rim or worn parts can also cause it — we can check.
